you should see the tears our eyeballs squirt ever since pizza lucé ended its vegan brunch four years ago. time to dry those tears! a vegan breakfast burrito, tofu scramble, portobello benedict and biscuits and gravy are back to downtown mpls (119 n 4th st) and st paul (1183 selby ave) every sat and sun, 10a–2p.

we have deep affection for the vegan portobello benedict: grilled portobello mushrooms caps, sauteed spinach, fresh tomatoes and sun-dried tomato tapenade on a toasted english muffin over hash browns, all smothered in hollandaise sauce without even a smidgen of butter or egg yolk. the tangy shrooms and rich sauce were yum together. no greasy hash browns, either. in fact, the whole shebang was bogglingly light and healthy (the hollandaise sauce is made with vitamin b-rich—yet cheesy—brewer's yeast, for example).

enjoy, too, the bloody beers (lucé doesn't have a hard-liquor license) to your liver's content. only available vegan, they're concocted with anchovy-free worcestershire sauce and bragg liquid aminos.
