no herding customers like cattle in this store. fast and furless owner jon novick is emphatic about both his veganism and his merchandise, all of which is vegan—meaning no fur, leather, wool, down or silk. novick even goes the extra mile to make sure his products are sweatshop-free and fair-labor produced.

nestled between three colleges means much of his business comes from students. while the kids are away this summer, he's keeping busy partnering with local environmentally friendly groups to promote awaress and host in-store events. "the intent is to live gently and cause the least suffering," novick says.

the st paul native is pleased with the reception his shop has received since it opened in november 2005. "i feel fortunate to be able to combine my veganism with my passion for having a business," he says.
